OCT. 8th -12thThe week leading up to Decorah Pride Festival is full of opportunities to learn, connect, have fun, and build community.
Tues. @ 6 pm: History of Pride @ Pulpit
Join Josh Ratel-Khan for all age-ages event exploring the history of LGBTQIA+ Pride movements and the lasting impact.

Wed. @ 7 pm: Author Vi Khi Nao @ Pulpit
Join Oneota Valley Literary Foundation and Dragonfly Books in welcoming queer author Vi Khi Nao to Decorah. Vi will do a reading from her recently released book, The Italy Letters, and then host Q&A and book signing. Read more about the author’s work here.
About the author:
Vi Khi Nao was born in Long Khánh, Vietnam, and immigrated to the United States at a young age. Her work includes poetry, fiction, film, and cross-genre collaboration, and has been featured in periodicals such as Conjunctions, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Chicago Review, Glimmer Train, the Baffler, and McSweeney’s, and in The Best American Nonrequired Reading anthology. A former Black Mountain Institute fellow, she lives in Iowa City.

Grab a lawn chair then get a team together or join one when you arrive as we all test our knowledge of important history, culture, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ folk during 3 rounds of trivia played outdoors!

Friday @ 8 pm: Drag Show @ T-Bocks Upstairs
Get your tickets and join with ArtHaus to welcome drag performers to the stage. Come early for happy hour, and be prepared to dance it up with the performers. Funds raised intentionally benefit our community partner, ArtHaus and their epic creativity.
Doors open @ 7 pm. Show starts at 8 pm.

Saturday @ 9:30 am: Pride Yoga @ Driftless Yoga
Yoga is practice that nurtures self-compassion, seeks to heal divisions, and champions liberation. LGBTQIA2S+ folks and allies will join in a gentle movement practice together.
Registration appreciated (sliding scale donation).

Decorah Pride Festival
Saturday Oct. 12, 2024
Pride Parade - 3 pm
The festival begins with a parade at 3 pm down Water Street. Join the parade or cheer from the sidewalks on Water St. to celebrate diversity, march for equality, and work in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people. Register to be in the parade as a group or join as an individual.
Party in the Park – 3:30 pm
Spend the afternoon with friends old and new as we build community. Visit vendors, connect with community partners, and enjoy food trucks, bouncy houses, games and more as the festival continues in Decorah’s green space on Heivly, near the softball diamond.
queerPOPERA - 6 pm
Experience a pop-up opera company like you’ve never seen before. Using innovative twists and collaborations with visual artists, dancers, and musicians, the music and Luther College performers will bring to life diverse narratives of the LGBTQ+ community.
Free admission. Tips welcomed.

Dance Party - 8 pm
Grab one of the specially brewed beers for the evening and join the DJ outside for an evening of unforgettable tunes and unmatchable fun. Dance party-goers must be 18+ years old.

Gays and Faes: After Party - 11 pm
Close out your Decorah Pride experience with a 21+ late night party at Your Place Bar hosted by Gays and Faes! Rock it out and glam it up with a Pride set from DJ BIGSTINKIES. Doors open at 10:30 and the DJ starts at 11 pm. $5 cover at the door.

…CONTINUing ON SUNDAY
Rainbow Run – 10 am
This 5k Fun Run starts near The Landing Market and runs along the Trout Run Trail then archs to come back on Ice Cave Road. All participants get a white shirt with a design revealed with each color splashed on them during the run.
